The JeffHOPE Kids Committee focuses on the needs of the children in the Philadelphia shelter system. Each week, members of our group travel to Eliza Shirley and ACTS/Mercy to play with the children living there. We do different arts and craft projects, play board games, read books and organize other fun activities for children of all ages who wish to participate. The Kids Committee also facilitates the JeffHOPE medical clinic by supervising children while mothers can be seen in the clinic.
The Kids Committee organizes two large parties for the children during the year. The Halloween party is a great chance for the kids to dress up, have some food and participate in fun, Halloween-themed games and activities. The holiday party is a favorite among both kids and adults as we organize a toy drive for all of the children in the shelters. The kids are always happy to receive holiday gifts that are picked specially with the requests of each child in mind. The shelter system is not an easy place to live, especially for a child. Through our activities and parental support, the Kids Committee hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of these children by showing them that people really do care about them.
