Expertise & Research Interests

My focus of my research lab is on the analysis of human cellular immune responses to both viral pathogens and tumors and potential immunotherapy applications. I have had a longstanding interest in adenovirus infections in patients with hematologic malignancies who undergo stem cell transplant recipients. I have an RO1 grant to characterize human T cell responses to adenoviruses in stem cell transplant recipients who develop adenovirus infections in order to develop immunotherapy strategies to help control invasive infections post-transplant, in collaboration with the Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Additionally, in collaboration with the Dept. of Neurosurgery, I have identified tumor-specific T cell responses in newly diagnosed patients with glioblastoma multiforme, suggesting that glioblastomas are immunogenic and may be amenable to immunotherapy.
