Applied / Translational Genomics Shared Facility
The Applied / Translational Genomics Shared Facility in the Department of Pathology, Anatomy and Cell Biology provides equipments and technical support for automated nucleic acid purification (SPRI-TE) , DNA and RNA analysis (Agilent Bioanalyzer 2100), DNA fragmentation by sonication (Diagenode Bioruptor), automated MeDIP and ChIP (Diagenode IP-Star), real-time PCR (Roche Light-Cycler 480) for gene expression analysis, micro-RNA expression analysis, etc. It also offers microarray technology (both Agilent and Roche-Nimblegen arrays) and DNA next generation sequencing (Roche 454 platform for mutation/SNP detection and quantification, mRNA sequencing, etc). Bioinfomatic support is provided through the Daniel Baugh Institute of Computational Biology and Functional Genomics. The facility welcomes collaboration and can also assist users in related experimental design.
Instruments supporting the facility include the Roche 454 GS FLX and GS Junior Next Generation Sequencers, Agilent High-Resolution Microarray Scanner with SureScan technology, Diagenode IP-Star Automated System for ChIP and MeDIP, Diagenode Bioruptor sonicator, Roche LightCycler 480 RT PCR System, Beckman Coulter SPRI-TE Nucleic Acid Extractor, Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer, Nimblegen Microarray Hybridization Station, and Agilent Microarray Hybridization Oven.
