Academy of Distinguished Educators
At Jefferson Medical College, we believe our educational mission distinguishes the us from other entities engaged in research and patient care and that preparing the next generation of physicians and scientists through effective teaching is a fundamental responsibility of every faculty member of the Medical College. To that end, the Academy of Distinguished Educators was developed to recognize, reward, and promote excellence in medical education and to foster a community of Scholars.
The activities of the Academy include making recommendations and reviewing nominations for membership and faculty awards, such as the Dean’s Award for Education and other activities including, but not limited to faculty development programs, lectureships and symposia, journal clubs, mentoring and peer review activities.
The Academy of Distinguished Educators comprises the following Working Groups:
- Community Building and Engagement
- Educational Innovation and Scholarship
- Membership and Awards
- Promoting Teaching Excellence
The Academy is composed of faculty with a history of demonstrated excellence in medical education at Jefferson who commit to promote excellence in medical education through active contributions that further the goals and objectives of the Academy. JMC faculty who have received a JMC or Class Day Teaching Award may apply for membership in the Academy.
