MD/PhD Alum, E.J. Caterson, Key Member of Nation’s First Full Facial Transplant Team
Edward J (EJ) Caterson, (JMC/JCGS ‘03), Instructor at Harvard Medical School and member of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, was part of the 30 member team at BWH that successfully carried out the nation’s first full facial transplant. Also participating was EJ’s wife, Stephanie (JMC 1999). EJ, who did his PhD work with Rocky Tuan, continues to contribute to the science of wound healing and has a particular interest in the reconstruction of wartime injuries.
