With over 125 years of educating nurses, the Jefferson College of Nursing welcomes you to explore our distinguished educational program that combines research and technology with compassionate care. The College is designated a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence for 2015-2019 which recognizes our efforts to create environments that enhance student learning and professional development.
Perhaps the most distinguishing Jefferson difference is the way we engage students with active problem-based learning within a dynamic interprofessional setting: bringing future nurses together with pharmacists, physicians, and therapists to study in the same simulated clinical labs and real-world clinical settings. Our students experience real-world nursing and team-based care and are well prepared to enter the practice world as confident, effective members of an integrated healthcare team. Jefferson is proud to educate respected nurse clinicians.
Thomas Jefferson University faculty members are reimagining healthcare, health education, and delivery to create unparalleled value by continuously supporting and advancing how nursing students learn. For example, in 2016 Jefferson transformed the baccalaureate nursing curriculum. The new curriculum is designed as an innovative, forward-thinking 21st century baccalaureate nursing concept-based curriculum. This curriculum is based on One Jefferson’s mission, We Improve Lives, and Jefferson College of Nursing’s curriculum for health is H.E.R.E. – Humanistic, Evidence-based, Reflective, and Excellence in clinical leaders. The curricular framework that guides the baccalaureate curriculum is Promoting Health and Quality of Life Along the Care Continuum and the curricular themes are innovation, population health, interprofessional collaboration, and practice excellence. I applaud Jefferson College of Nursing’s faculty for their creativity and innovative spirit. At Jefferson College of Nursing, we continually focus on ways to enrich the learning experience of our students: our next generation of clinical, education, and research leaders. Our graduates promote and support the Jefferson College of Nursing and Thomas Jefferson University by fostering lifelong engagement with alumni, students, and the rest of the Jefferson community.
Thank you for your interest in Jefferson College of Nursing. I invite you to discover the rich learning experience we offer.
