Admission Requirements

Master of Public Health (MPH) Admissions Considerations

  • Earned baccalaureate degree with approximate GPA of 3.0
  • One of the following:
    • Competitive score on the GRE or other graduate entrance examination     
    • Graduate degree or at least 9 credits of earned graduate coursework with grade of “B” or higher
    • Current enrollment in a graduate clinical or professional program (e.g., MD, MSN)
    • GPA of 3.3 or higher and specified coursework with grade of “B” or higher from a Jefferson-affiliated college or university
  • Competency in basic statistics (recommended)
  • Previous professional or volunteer experience in a community health setting

MPH Application Requirements

  • Completion of online application form
  • Payment of application fees
  • Official transcripts from all graduate and undergraduate institutions attended
  • Submission of TOEFL courses, if applicable
  • GRE or equivalent
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Personal statement

Master of Science in Healthcare Quality & Safety (MS-HQS) Online Admissions Considerations & Prerequisites

  • Earned baccalaureate degree with approximate GPA of 3.0
  • Three years’ clinical experience or related work in a clinical setting
  • One of the following:
    • Competitive score on the GRE or other graduate entrance examination     
    • Graduate degree or at least 9 credits of earned graduate coursework with a grade of “B” or higher
    • Current enrollment in a graduate clinical or professional program, such as MD, MSN
    • GPA of 3.3 or higher and specified coursework with grade of “B” or higher from a Jefferson-affiliated college or university
  • Competency in basic statistics demonstrated by:
    • At least 3 credits of undergraduate or graduate coursework with grade of “B” or higher or
    • Passing score on JSPH statistics challenge examination
  • Knowledge of medical terminology demonstrated by:
    • Clinical coursework containing relevant material or
    • At least 3 credits of undergraduate or graduate coursework in medical terminology with grade of “B” or higher or
    • Passing score on JSPH medical terminology challenge examination

MS-HQS Application Requirements

  • Completion of online application form
  • Payment of application fees
  • Official transcripts from all graduate and undergraduate institutions attended
  • Submission of TOEFL courses, if applicable
  • GRE or equivalent

  • Telephone interview

Admissions Considerations & Prerequisites

  • Satisfactory completion of ACPE’s 125-hour Degree Prerequisite online curriculum:
    • Core (93 hours)
      • Financial Decision Making
      • Managing Physician Performance
      • Physician in Management – Influence or Effective Leadership
      • Physician in Management – Quality
      • Physician in Management – Negotiation
      • Three Faces of Quality
  • Electives (32 hours) chosen from modules in leadership, management, finance, communication, and other topics

  • Competency in basic statistics demonstrated by previous coursework or passing score on JSPH qualifying test

MS-HQSM Application Requirements

Completion of online application and payment of application fee
