Dr. Susan Rosenthal joined the dean's staff in 2013 as an Associate Dean for Student Affairs. She brings her expertise in career counseling as well as program innovation to Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC). Under her purview, students can now access a database – Matchmaker – which includes academic statistics and residency match outcomes for prior SKMC graduates. This data has proven very helpful for decision making in the residency application process. Dr. Rosenthal enjoys mentoring students and inspiring them to take ownership of new programs. She worked with students to design the Physician Executive Leadership (PEL) program in 2013. This award-winning program is now wholly student-run, and presents programs attended by hundreds of students.

She also supports the Provost/ Dean’s Student Leadership Program, a unique and competitive mentorship program led by Dr. Tykocinski for students who show potential as future leaders in medicine. Other programs she has brought to SKMC include the Flexible Fourth Year program. She is invested in the success of all learners and has brought a new orientation program for students in the successful Penn State/SKMC accelerated program. Dr. Rosenthal’s research interests include the professional development of medical students, and she continues her prior work in this area with Drs. Mohammadreza  Hojat and Jon Veloski in the Center for Teaching and Learning.
