Melissa A. Lazar, M.D. Appointed Breast Surgeon at Jefferson Breast Care Center
(PHILADELPHIA) – Thomas Jefferson University Hospital has appointed Melissa A. Lazar, M.D. as a surgeon at the Jefferson Breast Care Center. She has also been appointed an Assistant Professor of Surgery by Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Lazar recently completed her general surgery residency at Jefferson and fellowship in Breast Oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lazar specializes in breast cancer surgery.
Jefferson Breast Care Center Director Massimo Cristofanilli, M.D. said, “We are pleased that Dr. Lazar is joining the Jefferson Breast Care Center. She brings enthusiasm and energy to our patients and is a great new member of our team.”
Dr. Lazar graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Notre Dame, and completed her medical degree at Jefferson Medical College.
In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Lazar completed a one-year experience in surgical research, also at Jefferson. Her research focused on the role of nicotine in cancer.
Dr. Lazar is a member of the American College of Surgeons.
