The Office of University Counsel is divided into three functional divisions, General Legal Affairs, Intellectual Property and Corporate Compliance Administration.

The General Legal Affairs division is involved in preparing legal documents, reviewing and recommending approval of University contracts and agreements, representing the University in legal actions, and providing legal advice to the administration of the University.

The Intellectual Property division provides advice and assistance to the TJU community with patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret matters, including: research contracts; clinical trial agreements; patent licensing; copyright applications, licensing and management; intellectual property litigation.

Corporate Compliance Administration’s role is to ensure TJU and JUP’s compliance with all regulatory guidelines. The office provides education and training to faculty and staff members, coordinates internal and external audits and investigations, and seeks to minimize business and reputational risks to the University.
