Rebuilding Together: SOTA community service

Eleven first and second year OT students participated in Rebuilding Together, a Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) community service project, on October 8.

“Community service is part of OTs centennial vision to become ‘widely-recognized... and diverse workforce meeting society's occupational needs,’” shares Jacque Knuttel, second-year BS/MSOT student. “Through Rebuilding Together, students gain the opportunity to promote OT to society and perform home safety evaluations and modifications for clients who live at or below the federal poverty line. The skills practiced at Rebuilding Together include safety evaluation, therapeutic use of self, home safety interventions, and advocacy of the profession.”
