Research Toolbox Initiative, OTT's Newest Initiative
Using research tools & expertise to attract alternative, non-federal funding
Under the leadership of Dr. Taraschi, VP for Research, and the Medical School’s Dean’s office, OTT is implementing a new initiative for an alternative funding mechanism. The Research Toolbox Initiative combines faculty expertise with biological materials/assays they developed at Thomas Jefferson University to explore commercial funding opportunities.
The ultimate goal of this initiative is not simply to license research tools but to bundle faculty expertise along with their research tools and to pursue collaboration and sponsored research opportunities. OTT will work directly with the faculty to create a targeted marketing campaign and match the expertise/research tools with pharmaceutical companies research focus. Simultaneously, OTT will partner with the University City Science Center to offer TJU research tools to regional companies to aid their drug development efforts, or provide contract services to these companies utilizing faculty’s expertise or research tools. Many regional companies utilize the Science Center as a resource in their pursuit of acquiring research tools.
Let us know about your cell line, mouse model, and other research tools! Submit the Report of Toolbox Invention (ROTI) form to OTT. Once we receive the form, we will contact you directly to discuss the next steps.
