The Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management Information Systems (BS-HSMIS) prepares individuals for entry-level management in a wide variety of healthcare settings. Managers within these organizations plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the delivery of healthcare services.
They may be generalists who administer, manage or help to manage entire facilities or systems, or specialists who manage clinical departments or services specific to the healthcare industry.
All healthcare managers deal with:
- Finances
- Budgets
- Personnel
- Computer systems
- Laws and legal requirements
- Program planning and evaluation
- Organizational behavior, including politics and conflict
Curriculum
To earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Professions Management Information Systems degree, you must complete 120 credits. Specific course requirements are listed below. Remaining credits are satisfied with elective courses.
General Requirements
Courses required to fulfill General Education requirements are offered in a traditional 15-week semester and accelerated sessions. Foundation and Major courses are accelerated. Classes meet two evenings per week for seven weeks. The accelerated college year consists of six seven-week sessions. Students may begin or enter the Program at any one of the six accelerated sessions.
All courses are three (3) credits. Tracks require one course, unless otherwise noted (eg, the English requirement equals two courses.)
