Meet the Students & Alumni


Amna is a Digital Marketing & Communications Professional from the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf working as a Communications Advisor, Editor and Translator for several organizations in the MENA region. Prior to her full-time doctoral studies Amna worked for PineBridge Investments’ Middle East office, a global asset manager, headquartered in New York, and as an Independent Consultant to Oman Oil Company, based in Muscat, Oman, where she advised on a national communications strategy for an international scholarship program under Oman Oil’s CSR initiatives. She previously worked as Senior Consultant for Bell Pottinger, a leading British multinational PR agency, where she managed the PR accounts of Bahrain’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, Information Affairs Authority, and Chamber of Dispute Resolution.

Amna began her career at the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and was part of the team responsible for launching Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. Her responsibilities included campaign research and development, press office, and building commitment amongst senior government officials. Amna was also part of the audit team of the government communications function across ministries and authorities responsible for designing a capacity-building program.

Fluent in English and Arabic, and communicative in Spanish and French, Amna earned her BS and MBA in International Business and Accounting from Thomas Jefferson University, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

From Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ibrahim began his 20 years of finance work as a customer service specialist then rose to the position of Branch Manager of Riyadh Bank in Riyadh. He is currently a member of the main strategic committee of the Social Development Bank which provides financial and non-financial services that contribute to social development, building partnerships with multiple sectors, raising financial awareness, and promoting a culture of self-employment among all segments of Saudi society.

Ibrahim completed specialized banking programs in Riyadh; Management and Leadership programs in Turin, Italy; and Business Skills programs in the U.S. A significant achievement was earning both his undergraduate and his graduate degree while working full-time in banking. His colleagues describe him as possessing a combination of intelligence, commitment, perseverance, creativity and compassion.

He earned a BBA and MBA from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

During her graduate studies, Valerie received and acknowledged her call to preach the gospel and became the first female clergy licensed by the Bright Side Baptist Church of Lancaster, PA. Now living in Philadelphia, Reverend Andrews is currently Associate Minister of St. Paul’s Baptist Church and the Business Manager for the Church of the Redeemer Baptist where she assists the Senior Pastor and Trustee Ministry with the management, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Church’s business practices, procedures and employees.

Val is an active member of the Philadelphia Baptist Association where she served as an Adaptive Challenge Consultant for Domestic Violence and represented the Pennsylvania region as Senator for the Minister's Council of the American Baptist Churches (USA). She has been President of the Pennsylvania Eastern Keystone Baptist Association's Women's Division, and, was appointed to the National Executive Board of the American Baptist Women’s Ministries of American Baptist Churches-USA, as Coordinator of Events. In 2013, she was nominated and honored as one of 104 Influential Black Women in Philadelphia by the N.A.A.C.P. She is the proud mother of three children: Joy, Jasmine and Ronald Jr.

Val earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts/English and M.Ed. in Counseling Education from Millersville University, was ordained by the Pennsylvania Eastern Keystone Baptist Association and earned the M. Div. degree from the Palmer Theological Seminary and is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

After 34 years of government service as an Army officer and Department of the Army civilian, Michael founded and is president of InVenture Associates LLC, an executive management consulting service that specializes in facilitating business opportunities. In addition, he is the Executive Director of the Pan Pacific American Leaders and Mentors, a professional network of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders; President of the Seabrook Chapter of the Japanese American Citizenship League; and Executive Director of the Seabrook Educational and Cultural Center.

Michael’s previous positions included Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems Deputy and Chief of Staff, and in the 6th Battalion, 32nd Armor Regiment, Tank Platoon Leader, Battalion Heavy Mortar Platoon Leader and Tank Company Commander. He was also Professor of Program Management at the U.S. Defense Acquisition University (DAU), Associate Professor at the U.S. Military Academy, and Executive Officer to the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department.

His academic credentials include a BS in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy, MS in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, and Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Joy is Senior Specialist of Staff and Labor Relations in the Division of Human Resources at the University of Pennsylvania. She is responsible for supporting and developing comprehensive staff and labor relation plans as well as developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive staff relations program for the university. Prior to her university appointment she was Assistant HR Director at Genesis Healthcare.

Joy also holds an Adjunct Faculty appointment to teach Human Resource Management in the School of Business of Rowan University, and to teach Organization Behavior in the School of Business of Wilmington University.

She earned a BA in Communication from Hofstra University where she also played Women’s Basketball and earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Joy holds Certifications as Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Hamid is with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Human Resources where he is responsible for developing, administering and evaluating tests/assessments and eligibility for civil service positions. Previously he was Office Manager for KassCon Building Services responsible for accounting and payroll.

Among his successful personal achievements has been organizing summer camps for parents and their children in his community. With responsibilities for media/marketing, accounts receivable/accounts payable, adults' activities, and children’s' activities, Hamid notes, “It’s like a small government trying to govern a small city or township.”

Born in Casablanca, Morocco, Hamid holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Hassan Ii Mohammadia University, MBA in IT, Finance, and Human Resources Management from Goldey-Beacom College, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Father Al is a native of Philadelphia. He professed vows as a Redemptorist and was ordained in 1988. He is the Pastor/Rector/Shrine Director at St. Peter the Apostle Parish/National Shrine of St. John Neumann in Philadelphia and helped plan the 2015 World Meeting of Families.

Al began his career in a large congregation in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands where he directed religious education and volunteer initiatives. In 2002, he became an elected member of the Provincial Council based in New York City and served administrative duties across the East Coast and Caribbean while managing a $3 million budget as well as various renovation projects.

Al earned a B.A. in Philosophy from St. Alphonsus College; MDiv from Washington Theological Union; M.S. in Organizational Leadership/Professional Administration from Duquesne University; and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Michelle is Associate Director of Catering and Connelly Center Operations, Villanova Dining Services at Villanova University where she has oversight for complex organizational and personnel activities including the University meal plan, and revenue reporting for all retail operations. She is an active national member of the Society for Human Resource Development (SHRM) and the National Association of College and University Food Service (NACUFS) from which she was a scholarship recipient for their Leadership Institute hosted by Nestle Corporation. She is also the recipient of the Villanova University Distinguished Service Award.

Michelle earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Business from Villanova University; M.S. in Human Resource Development and post-Master’s Certificate in Human Resource from Villanova University; and is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Robyn serves as controller for AthenianRazak, a boutique consulting, and managing real estate firm where she is responsible for complex accounting for large projects, rapid set-up of accounting needed for REO properties, and construction accounting. Previously she was Senior Accountant and Project Accountant for Athenian Properties.

Robyn is passionate about youth development which has led her to teach and mentor in the Women of Tomorrow Philadelphia High School program and in the leadership program of United Way Worldwide.

Robyn holds a Pennsylvania Real Estate License, earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from Temple University, an M.B.A. in Finance from Drexel University, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

From Pretroria, South Africa, Eugéne is a freelance consultant affiliated with Dominus In en Uitvoere (Pty) Ltd and its associated organizations in Pretoria, South Africa. He was previously Operations Manager at Benheck Marketing (Pty) Ltd, and Contract & Business Development Coordinator at Eurocopter Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg.

With language competencies in English, Afrikaans, Dutch, Flemish and French, his professional work includes identifying and improving management and systems problems, enhancing public image, and generating new revenue growth. He was involved in the successful launch of leadership of a new business unit team at Airbus Helicopters South Africa, as well as developing and implementing a competitor benchmark system, market information reporting system and a joint venture value adding product with a leading global underwriter.

Eugéne earned two B.Com. degrees, one in Financial Management and a second in Aviation Management from the University of Pretoria, and a M.S. in Human Resource Development from the Da Vinci Institute for Technology in Johannesburg. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Through his undergraduate experiences, Travis learned he had a passion for working with college students. He experienced and appreciated the meaningful impact that student affairs staff can have to support student success and on the delivery of co-curricular programs that promote understanding of diversity and social justice issues.

Previously holding positions in housing and residential education at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz, he is now Assistant Vice President for Residential Learning and Inclusion Programs at Rowan University where he supervises two administrative departments. As the university’s Chief Housing Officer for the auxiliary housing portfolio he has been responsible for opening more than 2,500 new construction housing over the last 8 years through public-private partnerships. He also oversees the Office of Social Justice, Inclusion and Conflict Resolution, which he helped to create. The Social Justice office houses the campus Multicultural, Women’s, LGBTQ+, and Spiritual Exploration Centers, as well as mentoring programs.

Travis earned a B.A in Political Science from Sonoma State University and M.Ed. in College Student Affairs Administration from University of Georgia. He was inducted into the National Residence Hall Honorary, the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organizations advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, in the Laura Gale Chapter at Sonoma State University, and was made an honorary member of the Holly Bush chapter at Rowan University. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

John is Administrator of AtlantiCare Surgery Center, a member of the Geisinger Health System which provides a wide range of outpatient surgical services for patients in Southern New Jersey. He was previously Assistant Vice President of Surgical Operations at Virtua Medical Group, associated with Virtua Healthcare System of New Jersey.

John’s leadership education began while serving in the U.S. Military as a non-commissioned officer and then as an Army Nurse Corps Officer. He continues to be a volunteer mentor and career coach to fellow military veterans. He is an experienced nurse and nurse executive who has led surgical services departments in local hospitals, large academic medical institutions, and ambulatory care centers at Walter Reed Army Healthcare System, Hahnemann University Hospital, Kennedy Health System, and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

John earned a B.S. in Biology from Excelsior University; B.S. in Nursing from Villanova University; M.B.A. in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Northeastern University; Executive Certificate in Healthcare Operations from the T. Chan’s School of Public Health at Harvard University; Graduate Certificate in Lean Healthcare Operations from Thomas Jefferson University; and Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Policy from George Mason University. He is a Certified Professional Life Coach from Fowler International Academy of Professional Coaching, and a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Jim is Senior Vice-President and Director of Business Banking Commercial Real Estate for Citizens Bank where he oversees all real estate business activities within the Bank’s 11-state territory. His primary responsibilities include serving as thought leader and integrating functional and business knowledge to develop new processes, procedures and products to anticipate the changing business environment. Previously he was middle market portfolio manager for Fox Chase Bank.

In his 16-year finance/banking career he is most proud of building highly successful teams by identifying talent, empowering team members through delegation, valuing their feedback and playing to win.

Jim earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Business Administration from Neumann University, an Executive M.B.A. from the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Brittany began her career as a teacher in Boston where she developed the art curriculum for Boston Renaissance Charter Public Schools. She subsequently transitioned into the corporate food industry and is now Director of Sales for Kernel Season’s the number one brand of popcorn season available at more than 15,000 stores. She was previously Category Manager with The Kellogg Company in Jacksonville, FL then in Philadelphia with responsibility for the Snacks and Morning Foods portfolios at Wakefern Food Corporation, the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the US. Prior to positions with Kellogg, she worked as a community development manager at Frito Lay and as an analyst for Mondelez International and Kraft Foods.

Britt is a member of the Network of Executive Women and the Young Professionals Network of Philadelphia. She has also been a women’s lacrosse coach in Pennsylvania and Florida. She earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from Saint Joseph’s University, an M.A. in teaching from Tufts University, and she is also a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Seth is Patient Relations Coordinator for the University of Pennsylvania Health System where he works with the Office of General Counsel for risk reduction, patient safety, and supports hospital patient and family experiences.

Previously, Seth was Clinic Flow Coordinator in the Penn Memory Center where he managed information for the Alzheimer Disease Clinic. He has also been Communication Analyst at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Program Manager at the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia.

Seth earned a B.A. in Humanities from Villanova University, M.S. in Health Education and Health Administration from St. Joseph’s University, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

In 1998, Derek won the Democratic Primary for U.S. House of Representatives (New Jersey District 2), later losing to incumbent Congressman Frank LoBiondo in the general election. While he remains politically engaged, his professional life has been primarily focused on higher education.

For a decade, Derek worked at Rowan University rising to Assistant Chief in the Department of Public Safety. He was subsequently recruited by the University of Pennsylvania to lead a newly created student program for Residential Services and was subsequently promoted to be Penn’s Sr. Associate Director for Building Operations. He has been the recipient twice of Penn’s highest staff award, Models of Excellence, was one of two finalists for the Model Supervisor award.

Derek holds a B.A. in Communications from Rowan University, an M.S. in Organizational Dynamics from University of Pennsylvania, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Odell has more than 25 years of leadership experience in academic scientific research and is the coauthor of 9 published academic papers. He is Associate Director of Operations in the animal care group of the School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania with responsibilities for administration of 12 complex animal research facilities and leadership of the labs’ technicians, managers, and supervisors. Previously, he was Assistant Operations Director of the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Odell served meritoriously in the Gulf War as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist with the 312th Evacuation Hospital Greensboro, NC, and as Clinical Laboratory Specialist Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge with the 7236th Hospital Support Unit and 3274th Hospital Support Unit, Fort Bragg, NC.

Odell completed a B.S. in Laboratory Animal Science from North Carolina A&T State University, M.S. in Biotechnology Management and M.B.A. from the University of Maryland University College, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Syed is Manager of Business Strategy and Business Development at CGF insurance where he manages information technology, operations and strategy. Previously, he was Financial Administrator at IT-Sense, and Investment and Financial Coordinator at Home Alliance private Limited.

As a Jefferson Innovation MBA student, Syed achieved one of the highest scores worldwide besting more than 3,800 teams globally in the Business Strategy Simulation (BSG), a web-based competition that offers students hands-on experience with the global marketplace.

Born in Karachi, Pakistan and the author of two books, Syed earned a B.S. in Actuarial Sciences and Risk Management from the Institute of Business Management in Karachi, an M.B.A. in Finance from Philadelphia University, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Prior to his relocation to the United States, Patrick was the Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work in the School of Social Sciences of Njala University in Sierra Leone, Africa. He is also the West African Economic and Social Development Expert for the Institute for Development Impact, a consulting group based in Washington DC specializing in development effectiveness.

With a background in social sciences and technical competencies in educational and institutional administration and community development, and deep experience working in Sierra Leone, Liberia and China, Patrick has provided consultancy services to State and Non-governmental organizations.

Patrick earned a BA and MA in Education (Lingusitics) from Njala University in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and a PhD in Contemporary International Relations and Law from Jilin University in Changchun, China. He has also completed Certificates in Peacekeeping and International Conflict Resolution, Ethics, Gender, and Humanitarian Relief Operations from the United Nations/Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UN/DPKO). In 2018, he became a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Cheryl is the Administrator for the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at Thomas Jefferson University where she has overall responsibility for operational and financial management of academic clinical practices, research, and for developing and maintaining the mission-based budget and strategic plans.

Her previous position was Executive Director of HealthLink Medical Center in Southampton, PA which provides primary medical and dental care to working with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline. Prior to that she was Vice President, Mid-County Senior Services, Inc., a component of the Jefferson Health System.

A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Dermatology Academic Administrators Group, Cheryl earned a BA in psychology and MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA in Health Administration from Temple University where she was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and won the Fox School of Business Academic Achievement Award, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

From Chengdu, PRC, Sylvia is co-founder and COO of China USA International where she is responsible for administrative and operational oversight including contract negotiation to support the organization’s global operations. She was previously on the marketing team of Ivy Academic Consulting where she trained new marketing employees and directed marketing projects.

Sylvia notes that she is particularly focused on helping communities in rural China to find the balance between pursing economic success and preserving their cultural identities. To this end she is planning to launch a non-profit training program for English teachers in rural China to campaign for educational equality, social justice and more developed communities.

Sylvia earned a B.A. in English from the University of Electronic Sciences and Technology of China, an M.S. Ed. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Anne is an internationally-experienced HR executive with more than 30 years’ experience. Her most recent position was VP Field/HR Training for Pep Boys where she was responsible for leading and influencing policy and execution of all HR training and development for 800 retail and service locations across the US and Puerto Rico.

She was previously VP and Head of HR for Deb Shops where she was responsible for all stores, distribution centers and the corporate office, and prior to that she was Senior Director of Talent Management for the 17 Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Her international experience included being Head of HR for Best Buy, London, UK, where she was responsible for startup business in the UK and Europe, and for international HR activities in Mexico City. She began her career as Regional Training Manager with Toys-R-Us, Inc.

Anne earned a BS in Fashion Merchandising and an MBA in Leadership/Global Marketing from Philadelphia/Thomas Jefferson University, a Certificate in Human Resources from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Darshi from Mumbai, India has been a freelance interior designer and a design consultant for approximately 10 years and has been an instructor/tutor for 7 years holding affiliations with Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education and Yashvantrao Chauhan Maharashtra Open University which provides Satellite-based education supported by the Indian Space Research Organization. She is also an appointed Discipline Leader for the collaboration of Interior Design Programs with Birmingham City University (BCU) in the UK.

Darshi’s academic/teaching areas include Research Methodology, Interior Design, Interior Space Design, and Material Theory and Life Space Planning. She has been affiliated with Institutes of Fashion, Design and Technology and at the Rachna Sansad School of Interior Design. She completed a comprehensive teacher training program at Birmingham City University where she studied new strategies for bringing a paradigm shift in various spheres of Indian academics.

Darshi earned a B.Sc in Resource Management from Mumbai University, an M.Sc in Resource Management from S.N.D.T University which has affiliations with the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Swedish International Development Agency, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

Manager at the consultancy, Center for Applied Research (CFAR), Mike brings expertise in organizational development initiatives in the higher education, healthcare, and family and owner-led business industries. His focus on systemic problem-solving and the identification and subsequent implementation of solutions results in tangible and quantifiable outcomes.

Growing up and residing in Syracuse, NY, Mike’s first six years of professional work was as a (Lincoln) car salesman, while at the same time enrolled and completing college, receiving his Bachelor’s in Organizational Management from Keuka College. After college, he accepted a Program Coordinator position at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Executive Education, where he collaborated with Wharton faculty to foster relationships, assess needs, and design and implement comprehensive executive education programs for some of the largest organizations in the world including BP, Novartis, and UPS.

From Wharton, and just prior to joining CFAR, Mike worked as a Learning and Development Specialist in Thomas Jefferson University’s Department of Learning and Development. Working with the head of Talent Management, he was responsible for internal staff and leadership training, the performance evaluation system framework, and integration efforts including mission, vision, and values for the expanding enterprise including the mergers with Abington Health, Aria Health, Kennedy Health, and Philadelphia University.

Mike graduated with honors from Keuka College in upstate New York, earning a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. He also earned a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Growing up in public housing in Meridian, Mississippi and being provided an opportunity to participate in Boys and Girls Club, William gained valuable experience working, communicating, and impacting the community through the arts as he established the largest youth choir in the city of Meridian. This choir assembled at-risk youth throughout the city providing them alternative solutions to the streets. While maintaining this volunteer role, he was also Resources Center Activities Director then Director of Community and Supportive Services at the Meridian Housing Authority.

William is now Executive Vice President of Community Operations and Resident Development at the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) the biggest landlord in Pennsylvania and the nation’s fourth largest housing authority. Working in partnership with the city and state governments as well as private investors, he oversees a department responsible for providing social, educational, and other self-sufficiency opportunities to over 80,000 low to very low income residents of Philadelphia.

William earned a BA in Advertising from the University of Southern Mississippi, an MBA Degree from the University of Phoenix, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Jim is Senior Health Services Consultant at TMF Health Quality Institute, an Austin, TX-based organization that promotes quality health care. Focusing within the Pennsylvania Region with 218 Primary Care Practices, he is responsible for overseeing, developing and implementing projects in conjunction with the Federal Government in programs such as CPC+.

He enjoyed a full career in the US Federal Government, and has led operations for the American Red Cross, Quest Diagnostics, Penn Medicine, Main Line Health and Crozer-Keystone Health System. He has been intensely involved with mentoring students in his positions on the Alumni Boards at Rosemont College and Delaware County Community College. He is a Veteran of the Vietnam Era and served as a Medical Corpsman in the United States Armed Forces.

Jim earned a B.S. in Business Communication, an M.S. in Management and a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Administration from Rosemont College; and an M.B.A. in Health Care Administration from Eastern University where he was a member of the Delta Mu Delta (business) Honor Society. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

Mark is National Account Sales Manager for Campbell’s Soup’s Pepperidge Farm division where he manages over $70MM in channel division sales covering Baltimore/Washington, Boston, and Chicago. In his 19-year tenure he has earned multiple awards for exceeding goals and delivering projects. Prior to Campbell’s, Mark was with Crayola, Inc. where he was awarded the company’s highest sales award for five consecutive years.

One of Mark’s personal achievements has been to travel to cities and countries from six continents immersing himself in the culture of each. In Kenya, Africa, he slept in tents with the Maasia tribe. In Japan, he lived with a family who were so engaged with him that they presented him with a painting that had been in their family since the 1700s.

Mark earned a B.S. in Marketing from Johnson & Wales University, an M.B.A. in Marketing from Philadelphia University, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

Paul is a Master Tax Advisor, Manager and Instructor at H&R Block, and recipient of the H & R Block Leadership Award. He develops local partnerships, manages office community involvement, supports new client growth tactics, and manages office staffing, operations and logistics.

Paul holds a Pennsylvania Life, Health, Fixed Annuities, Property and Casualty Insurance License, and is an independent insurance planner and manager working with brand-recognized carriers. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, National Association of Enrolled Agents, and the National Association of Black Accountants.

Paul earned a B.A. in Accounting and Management from the Fox Business School of Temple University, an M.S. in Taxation and M.B.A. from Philadelphia University, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

Frank is an executive in human factors engineering with experience in healthcare-related products, development of long-term and operational strategies, as well as maintaining a vibrant culture to support the organization’s continued growth. He worked for 20 years at Vanguard Systems, Inc. a software development and information technology consulting firm, where he was responsible for the company’s largest division. Frank began his career as a junior-level programmer and rose to Vice President of Professional Service and Vice President of Partners and Alliances, then Regional Vice President.

He notes, "I’m proud to have been admitted to the Strategic Leadership Doctoral program. This program offers an exceptional opportunity to not only further my understanding of Systems and Design Thinking, but to apply that knowledge to help my own and other organizations as they confront the ever-increasing complex and volatile business environment."

Frank completed the Executive M.B.A. program from Villanova University where he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma (business excellence) International Honor Society, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

Bob is the CEO/Owner of Agile Infusion, a training and consulting practice that helps large enterprises successfully adopt lean/agile practices. His 30+ year career in the field of enterprise software and systems development and leadership included holding leadership positions at GE/Lockheed-Martin, Liquent, Primavera Systems, and Solstice Software.

Bob began his practice as a result of leading the much-publicized agile transition at Primavera beginning in 2002 then helping many other companies around the world do the same. His clients have included NASA, SAP, HP, Scripps Networks, Turner Broadcasting, Intuit, H&R Block, Jewelry TV, Disney, Accenture, Avid, Line6, US Federal Government Agencies, Cisco, Intergraph, and Symantec.

He earned a B.S. in Computer Science from Temple University; M.S. in Organizational Dynamics from University of Pennsylvania; and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Reverend Smith-Benson is the founder and Pastor at Reign in the Rain Ministries, Inc. in New Jersey where she preaches, teaches and provides pastoral care. She is also the co-founder and Director of Leadership Development at the Women Veteran Command Center, an organization serving female veterans in the Philadelphia area.

Paula’s background includes retiring as a Major from the United States Air Force Nurse Corps following more than 20 years of active service including as Flight Commander, Family Advocacy Nurse, and Troop Commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She has also held positions as Clinical Nurse, Certified Nurse Midwife, and Quality and Patient Safety Manager. She continues to exhibit a strong commitment to the community as a member of the National Association of University Women, National Black Nurses Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Paula earned a B.S. in Nursing from Hampton University where she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She also earned an M.S. in Nursing specializing in Nurse Midwifery from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is a Certified Christian Life Coach from Freedom Bible College and Seminary and Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Guy is a member of the Adjunct Faculty in Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Architecture and Built Environment and he also teaches part-time at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Jefferson, he was Director of Analytics for the City of Philadelphia Land Bank where he was responsible for GIS and Analytical Services including the LAMA system, modeling and simulation, training, and special projects. Previously he worked for the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority where he founded the City Urban Fellows program and directed the Geospatial Services Unit. Prior to this he was vice president of planning at the Jersey City Medical Center.

From the University of Pennsylvania, Guy earned a B.A. in Economics, M.S. in Urban Spatial Analytics, and MPhil in Organizational Dynamics with a Graduate Certificate in Project, Program and Portfolio Leadership. He also earned an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Pamela is Integrated Supply Team Chief/Supervisor at the Defense Logistics Agency, an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, where she plans, organizes, and directs personnel responsible for accomplishing a wide range of enterprise acquisition and logistics management functions.

Pamela is also a motivational speaker, certified John Maxwell team member, coach and trainer, and an instructor at the Victory in Christ Bible Training Center which is focused on leader development.

She earned a B.A. in Communication Arts from Villanova University, B.S. in Business Administration from Rowan University, M.B.A. from La Salle University, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

Raul is Senior Field Representative with the New Jersey Department of Labor, Division of Wage and Hour Compliance where he performs compliance-related investigations. Raul retired from the Trenton, New Jersey Police Department where oversaw the Internal Affairs Bureau, Professional Standards Unit, Human Resource Section, Tactical Anti-Crime Units, and Station House Commander.

He was founding member and President of a non-profit organization that helped recruit minority police officers improving the representative demographics of the police department and of the community.

Raul earned a B.S. in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University, an M.S. in Administration from Central Michigan University, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom. 

For more than 33 years, David has been with Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) one of the nation’s leading student aid organizations which conducts its student loan activities nationally as American Education Services (AES). Beginning as a manager, he is currently Guarantor Representative for the State of Pennsylvania.

David notes that he loves the academic environment because it is “stimulating, intellectually challenging, features independence to act on one’s own, and it is thought-provoking to study with colleagues and professors.” His purposes for joining DSL are to advance from his current position into new areas, to engage in graduate research, and to network and collaborate with area professionals.

David earned a B.B.A. from Pennsylvania State Harrisburg; B.A. in History (Cum Laude) from Misericordia University; M.B.A. from Shippensburg University; M.S. in Taxation and Ed. D. from Widener University; and, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Tina is Executive Director of Advantage Supports a consultancy that provides support coordination and case management to families in the South New Jersey area. She was previously Director of Business Development for Avenues to Independent Living which allocates and monitors state subsidized case management services for adults with developmental disabilities.

For 20+ years previously, Tina was a telecommunications engineer at several large corporations including Senior Engineer at CSC working on the DuPont account. Her career shift occurred after taking a sabbatical to live in Costa Rica where she taught English and helped on a humanitarian project in which she taught the women how to launch new businesses.

She earned a B.A. in German Language and Literature from Rutgers University, M.S. in Strategic Leadership from Neumann College, and she is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Teresa has more than 27 years of experience leading and directing change management, strategic, operational, and tactical planning for domestic and international activities in the military, private, and public sectors. She is currently Strategic Planner for Axiologic Solutions working inside the U. S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). Previous private sector experience includes Nonprofit Executive Director, Regional Revenue Manager, and Board of Directors member and Vice President for the nonprofit Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House.

Having achieved the rank of Colonel, Teresa is also currently Chief of the Central Asian States Civil Affairs Planning for the 352 Civil Affairs Command. She has been Battalion Commander, Detachment Commander and Civil Affairs Planner, and Operations and Program Manager in the US, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, and Egypt.

She holds a B.A. in Sociology from Methodist College; M.S. in Management from Troy University; and an M.P.A. and Post Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Villanova University. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.

Nick Zhao is a co-founder of Penntogo an e-business enterprise one aspect of which supports international students, workers, and others who want access to Asian products and services while residing in the United States.

Nick began his professional career as an application and training engineer working in the Beijing office of Banner Engineering, a Minnesota-based company. He then became Strategic Product Manager for the Beijing office of Cognex Corporation, a Massachusetts-based organization. As he was involved when both companies were trying to enter the Chinese market, his work included helping to establish U.S. representative offices in Beijing and Shanghai, to create a distribution network and to set up manufacturing plants in China.

Nick earned a B.S. in Engineering and Accounting from Beijing University of Technology; M.S. in Systems Engineering from University of Pennsylvania; and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.


Adena Johnston, DMgt (2018) is the first graduate of the Jefferson Doctor of Management program. She is Vice President of Talent Development for CCI Consulting, an independent human capital consulting firm, and a Certified Women’s Business Enterprise for which she oversees leadership development, executive coaching and all organizational effectiveness engagements. She is also adjunct professor in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Philadelphia University. Adena was previously Campus President and Metro President for the three Philadelphia campuses of Devry University.

Adena earned a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology from Case Western Reserve University; M.S. in Organizational Dynamics with a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Consulting and Executive Coaching from University of Pennsylvania. She is an Associate Certified Coach of the International Coach Federation and a Fellow of the Institute of Systems Wisdom.
