Jefferson College of Nursing to Host Visiting Scholar Dr. Patricia Bruckenthal

The Jefferson College of Nursing is pleased to host Visiting Scholar, Patricia Bruckenthal, PhD, ANP-C, FAAN, for a special presentation entitled "Addressing Pain Self-Management Amidst an Opioid Crisis" on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 11:30am- 1:00pm.  To register for this event, please click here.  A maximum of 1.5 nursing contact hours will be awarded for this program.

Dr. Bruckenthal,  is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation in the Stony Brook University School of Nursing. She also has worked a nurse practitioner in pain management for over 20 years.  Dr. Bruckenthal has presented at numerous national conferences on pain management issues and is a member of several clinical and research nursing societies. She is a past president of the American Society for Pain Management Nursing. She is an Associate Editor of the Pain Management Nursing Journal. She has numerous peer reviewed publications and publications.  

Dr. Bruckenthal’s research focuses on self-management of chronic pain and pain assessment and management of older adults. She is currently involved with research projects that provide training on Motivational Interviewing and health behavior change interventions for health care practitioners who treat patients with chronic pain and those with substance use disorders. These projects have the potential to improve access to this option for pain management.
