Hannah Smith, PhD, presents to NACNEP

Assistant Dean of Academic Strategy and Operations, Hannah R. Smith, PhD, presented to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice.

The National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP) advises the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the U.S. Congress, on policy issues related to Title VIII programs. Through its annual reports, the Council provides recommendations on current issues regarding nursing workforce, education, and practice which affect the quality and accessibility of healthcare for the Nation.

Dr. Smith presented “Educational technology and faculty competency related to educating the students of the future: Exemplars from the field” which demonstrated two key focus areas. The first area is dedicated to defining competencies and developing faculty and students with advanced technology skills. The second area highlights the integration of technology into all teaching-learning processes and the processes that Jefferson College of Nursing is taking to reach these goals.

The information that Dr. Smith presented will be used to inform federal funding opportunities in the area of technology integration for nursing programs.
