Ravi Patel, PharmD
Health Economics and Outcomes Research Fellow
Ravi joined the JCPH team as an HEOR Fellow after receiving his PharmD from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021. Prior to his PharmD program, Ravi attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he received his B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
Ravi is currently spending the first year of the Fellowship at JCPH where he assists with outcomes research projects while earning his master’s in applied health economics and Outcomes Research. For the second year of the Fellowship, Ravi will transition to his sponsor company, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, where he will join their Global Market Access team.
Ravi previously worked in various pharmacy settings, including both specialty and inpatient hospital pharmacies. These experiences allowed him first-hand exposure to barriers of care such as affordability, access and adherence to medications. This prompted Ravi to seek research opportunities within the Pharmacy Systems, Outcomes and Policy departments at the College of Pharmacy where he worked with mentors to conduct outcomes research utilizing both EHR and SEER-CAHPS data. Throughout pharmacy school, Ravi gained exposure to HEOR at AbbVie, where he focused on the company’s HCV portfolio. He also gained experience at a health system specialty pharmacy, where he utilized prior authorization and prescription claims data to assist with various research initiatives.
Through the JCPH Fellowship, Ravi hopes to build upon his foundational knowledge of the various facets within healthcare and gain a better understanding of HEOR methods with an overall goal of achieving better health outcomes for patients.
