Dr. Catherine Schifter is an emeritus associate professor in Psychological Studies in Education in the College of Education at Temple University, an adjunct associate professor in the College of Population Health at Thomas Jefferson University and a Carnegie Scholar (2000-2001). In her time at Temple she has been Director of the Online Learning Program from 1997-2000, Founding Director of the Temple Teaching and Learning Center from 2002-2004, Chair of the former CITE Department in the College of Education (2007-2009) and Director of the Instruction, Learning and Technology certificate program. Her research focused on professional development and technology integration in education, with recent interest in using game-based design to assess understanding of science inquiry. In addition to publishing numerous articles, she sole authored Infusing Technology into the Classroom: Continuous Practice Improvement (2008) and co-edited New Media in Education: Beyond Constructivism (2010). Dr. Schifter’s work, whether at the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania or in the College of Education at Temple University, has focused on the impact of new media or technologies in supporting teaching and learning at the individual level.
