Michelle Kavin PA-C is a physician assistant with 20 years of clinical experience specializing in emergency medicine, orthopedics and diabetes over the years. In addition to clinical practice, she has extensive training in clinical research and medical writing. Her patient education materials have been a sustaining part of the Penn State Hershey Diabetes Center and have won national awards. She was one of thirty national candidates chosen for the National Institutes of Health Summer Course in Clinical and Translational Research in 2019 where she was able to interact with some of the most prominent medical research scientists in the country. She was also a medical ambassador as part of a diabetes delegation in China working with 7 medical centers, 200 practitioners and over 1000 patients.

She is currently in the process of earning a PhD from Thomas Jefferson University Department of Population Health. Her current research is focusing on Multiple Chronic Comorbidities specifically the interaction of diabetes and osteoarthritis. She is evaluating patient outcomes and financial implications as well as developing interventions for potential policy change. She is currently a clinician at the Rothman Orthopedic Institute where she is also a member of the research division.
