Biography

Dr. Russ McIntire is an Associate Professor, whose primary appointment is with the  College of Population Health, and secondary appoint is with the College of Architecture and the Built Environment. He is also a full member of the Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center. He serves as the Associate Director of the Institute for Smart and Healthy Cities. Dr. McIntire’s research identifies the social, behavioral and geographic risk factors that impact people’s health where they live, work, and play. He studies how geo-based proximity to risk factors and access to resources impacts chronic diseases, with a focus on vulnerable populations. His major topical interests include healthy parks and greenspace, tobacco behavior and retailer density, health-seeking behavior (cancer screening), and cancer morbidity and mortality.
