Biography
Dr. Lucille B. Pilling’s passion is assuring access to health care, particularly for women. She has over 30 years of global public health experience managing complex, multi-organizational initiatives. Dr. Pilling was Vice President of International Programs at Planned Parenthood Federation of America; Senior Program Officer for a Bill & Melinda Gates initiative; managed primary health care programs in Africa and Latin America; and provided short-term technical assistance around the world.
Dr. Pilling teaches at the Jefferson College of Population Health. She works with the Non-Communicable Disease Roundtable and the Reproductive Health Access Project, and volunteers at Planned Parenthood Southeastern PA and Christ Church. Her research focused on the management of public private partnerships and the social determinants of health of agave farm workers. At present, she participates in a collaborative team of nursing faculty from four universities researching the utilization of Quad Council public health nursing competencies for teaching, practice and research.
Dr. Pilling obtained a diploma in nursing from the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and a BS in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She was awarded an MPH from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and an EdD from Columbia University, Teacher’s College.
