International Applicants

There are two steps in the application process:

  1. Complete the online application and pay the application fee.
  2. Complete the self-managed application by submitting the following documentation directly to TJAPP unless otherwise noted:

Submit an official transcript for all undergraduate and graduate accredited institutions you have attended.

Applicants must submit a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) for courses completed outside of the United States.  WES evaluations should be submitted directly to TJAPP.  ECE evaluations should be sent directly to TJU Admissions at the address indicated below.

  • Three Letters of Recommendation 
    Once you have indicated the names and email addresses of the individuals who you would like to submit an evaluation, an email request will automatically be sent to the evaluator on your behalf.  Please advise your evaluator to look for this email in their inbox, as well as their spam or junk folder, as emails do occasionally get filtered out.
  • Demonstration of Ability to perform Graduate Work
    Applicants must submit GRE scores (50% percentile or higher in each of the three categories) that are less than five years old. GRE scores should be sent by Educational Testing Services (ETS) directly to TJAPP. (GRE code = 2999)
  • Pre-matriculation Coursework
    Completion of a basic, but graduate level, biostatistics course and a research methods course. Must earn a grade of "B" or better.
  • Personal statement/essay
    Describe your interest in the program in 300-500 words. Include your personal experiences and how they relate to your goals and expectations for the program. Upload your essay to the TJCAS application.  See TJCAS Application Instructions for “my attachments”.
  • CV or resume
    Summary of your work or volunteer experience, especially if it is related to health or health care.
  • Demonstration of English Language Proficiency. 
    All international students and U.S. permanent residents must demonstrate English language proficiency as one of the conditions for admission to JCPH. JCPH accepts any one of the following to satisfy the proficiency requirement:
    • Native English speaker from one of these countries (PDF)
    • Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university
    • U.S. national or state licensure or certification in a medical, nursing or allied health field
    • Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with an overall score of at least 87 and individual section scores as follows: Writing – 21, Speaking – 23, Reading – 21 and Listening – 22. TOEFL official scores should be sent to Jefferson’s school code: 2999.
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are valid for two years with an overall score of 6.5 and individual scores as follows:  Listening - 6.5, Reading - 7, Writing - 6 and Speaking - 7.

  • The latest date to submit an online application for fall (September) admission is May 15. The latest dates to receive the supporting documentation is May 31. 
  • Applicants will be notified of an enrollment decisions by July 15.
