Research

There will be multiple areas within Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Sidney Kimmel Medical College for critical care research that will be available to fellows in basic, translational, or clinical research categories.  In addition to collaboration within the Department of Anesthesiology, fellows will also have the opportunity for research collaboration with the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Surgery.  Fellows will be provided with a list of investigators and their respective research interests prior to the start of their fellowship.  In the first month of the fellowship year, fellows will then meet with the Program Director and will be guided to a specific project and research mentor.  Fellows and mentor will draft a proposal to be reviewed and approved by the Department of Anesthesiology Research Committee.  Additional research time can be discussed with the Program Director or research mentor and proposed to the Department Chair as a separate research fellowship. Resources (including statisticians) will be accessible for Fellows to plan, initiate, and execute original scientific research.
