About Us

Through innovative cancer research in multiple disciplines, the Department of Cancer Biology makes impactful discoveries into the development, progression, and survival of cancers and novel strategies to target them.  The fundamental and translational cancer research focus areas in the Department of Cancer Biology are clustered into themes aligned to the following areas:

  • Mechanisms of cell proliferation and survival
  • Gene/chromatin regulation
  • Tumor microenvironment and heterogeneity
  • Escaping tumor suppression
  • Genome integrity/DNA repair
  • Cancer cell targeting and treatment resistance mechanisms

These strengths of the Cancer Biology faculty result in high-impact publications and significant grant funding. They also provide fertile ground for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, leading to high productivity and training opportunities.
