Department of Urology
Sidney Kimmel Medical College is the fifth oldest medical school in the United States and has more living graduates than any other medical school in the United States. A 125-bed hospital, one of the first in the nation affiliated with a medical school, opened in 1877. The Department of Urology was founded in 1904, making it one of the oldest formal departments of urology in the U.S. and the oldest on the East Coast, with 2004 marking our centennial year. Jefferson has a long, rich history in urology, and we house the Leonard Frank Jefferson Museum of Urology, located in our academic office at 1025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Lallas Named Lewis Hattfield Professor
On February 7, 2023, Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University installed Dr. Costas D. Lallas as the 6th Nathan Lewis Hatfield Professor of Genito-Urinary Surgery.
