LGBTQ+ Student Life

Thomas Jefferson University is an accepting community, welcoming people of all cultures, religions, and walks of life. One part of our community that we are proud to celebrate and support is our LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff.

Like all of our student engagement programming, our LGBTQ+ programs and activities are student-created, -developed, and -endorsed. Activities include Safe Zone training, Coming Out Day, the Gay-Straight Alliance’s trip to Outfest, our Annual Drag Show, and Unity Week in the spring. 

Scholarship Opportunity: The MarcDavid LGBTQ+ Scholarship

The MarcDavid LGBTQ+ Scholarship provides academic financial support to an undergraduate student at Jefferson who demonstrates active leadership and advocacy for LGBTQ+ causes.

Students are eligible to receive the scholarship beginning in their sophomore year. Preference shall be given to students with financial need, but leadership and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, inside and/or outside the Jefferson community, is paramount.

Thomas Jefferson University is a scholarly community, comprised of people from all racial, ethnic, cultural, socio-economic, national, and international backgrounds.  We welcome diversity of thought, pedagogy, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and disability. One part of our community that we are proud to celebrate and support is our LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff through LGBTQ+ centered programs, activities, and resources including but not limited to, Safe-Zone training, National Coming Out Day Celebration, and scholarship opportunities. 

Applicants are required to fill out an application with an essay component, and provide a letter of recommendation.

*Current First Year, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are eligible to apply. Applications are due by September 30, 2021, and the scholarship can go into effect for the Fall Semester 2021.
