Academic Honors

For Undergraduate Degrees Only

Undergraduate academic honors will be announced with students’ names as they cross the stage.

For Jefferson - East Falls Campus students, the scale is as follows:

  • Summa Cum Laude - Cumulative GPA of 3.80 or better
  • Magna Cum Laude - Cumulative GPA of 3.70- 3.799
  • Cum Laude - Cumulative GPA of 3.6 - 3.699

 For Jefferson - Center City Campus students, the scale is as follows:

  • Summa Cum Laude - Cumulative GPA of 3.85 or better
  • Magna Cum Laude - Cumulative GPA of 3.7 - 3.84
  • Cum Laude - Cumulative GPA of 3.5 - 3.69

In addition, for Jefferson - Center City Campus students only:

To graduate with honors, the student must complete a minium of 60 credits in a bachelor's degree program or 30 credits in an associate degree program, earn at least 50% of these credits in graded courses (non-Pass/Fail), and achieve a cumulative grade point average as listed above. The GPA is calculated on grades earned in Jefferson courses only. Transfer courses are not included.

Honors are based on the cumulative GPA from Fall for undergraduate students completing their degree in May and August of the following year.  For students enrolled in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Accelerated or the Jefferson - East Falls Campus Online programs, honors will be based on the cumulative GPA from the end of the Spring 1 term. Honors reflected on students’ transcripts and diplomas will be based on the actual cumulative GPA at the time of degree completion.
