Graduates Entry Point: via the Broad Street entrance to receive further direction from Jefferson staff, security and the PA Convention Center ushers.

Congratulations on the achievement of your degree from Thomas Jefferson University!

The Commencement Ceremonies are scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the PA Convention Center for undergraduates and the following Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kimmel Center for graduate students. The Undergraduate Ceremony will be held in Hall E at the PA Convention Center, entrance via Broad Street.  The Graduate Ceremony will be held in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center, located at 300 South Broad Street, just mere minutes from campus. The undergraduate ceremony  will consist of the conferral for the following colleges and will last until approximately until 12:30 p.m.:

  • Jefferson College of Health Professions (BS in Health Sciences only)
  • Jefferson School of Continuing & Professional Studies 
  • Jefferson College of Humanities and Sciences 
  • Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce 
  • Jefferson College of Architecture and the Built Environment 
  • Jefferson College of Life Sciences 

We ask that undergraduate population report by 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Commencement, Thursday, May 14, 2020 (via the Broad Street entrance) so that they may participate in an actual dress rehearsal of the Commencement Ceremony.  Students will first check into their program-specific robing rooms for correct marching order, help with robing, and name announcement verifications.  Light refreshments will also be provided for the graduates in each of the robing rooms. 

Guests are advised to enter the PA Convention Center from the Broad Street entrance and wait in the lobby until the doors for Hall E open.  Guests will not be seated in the Hall E until 9:45 a.m. 

There are accommodations at the PA Convention Center for special seating or Accessible Requests. Requests are due into the University Office of the Registrar by March 1st and provisions are limited. If your circumstances have changed after the March 1st deadline and you now need to request special seating please send an email immediately to graduation@jefferson.edu.  Please note, the PA Convention Center offers a limited amount of wheelchairs for guests with special needs.  It will be loaned on a first come, first served basis.  A valid driver's licence must be provided and will be returned upon the return of the wheelchair.

  • Jefferson College of Architecture and the Built Environment
  • Jefferson College of Pharmacy
  • Jefferson College of Population Health
  • Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce

There are accommodations at the Kimmel Center for Special Seating or Handicapped Accessible Requests. Requests are due into the University Office of the Registrar by March 1st and provisions are limited. If your circumstances have changed after the March 1st deadline and you now need to request special seating please send an email immediately to graduation@jefferson.edu. Please note, neither Thomas Jefferson University nor the Kimmel Center can provide, loan or rent wheelchairs for guests with special needs. Medical supply companies in the area can assist with acquiring one if needed.

Tickets & Seating Information

All students who will be attending the 2020 Commencement Undergraduate Ceremony at the PA Convention Center are guaranteed four tickets for their guests with unassigned seating. All Students who will be attending the 2020 Commencement Graduate Ceremony at the Kimmel Center are also guaranteed four tickets for their guests, however this will be assigned seating. 

Students will be notified by email if more tickets become available. With the assigned seating at the Kimmel Center, only the first four tickets are guaranteed to be seated together. 

Please be advised that any remaining outstanding obligations with the University (exit Interview, tuition balance, etc.) must be satisfied before receiving your diploma.

Important Ticketing Info

All students who will be attending the 2020 Commencement ceremony are guaranteed four tickets for their guests. Students will be notified by email if more tickets become available. The Grad Fair will be April 14 and 15 in the Kanbar Performance Space.

If a student is unable to pick up his or her regalia and tickets, he or she may arrange to have a designated person pick them up instead. The designated person must present a copy or picture of the graduate’s photo ID in order to receive the regalia and tickets.
