Overview
Across the globe, cannabis medicalization and legalization are having a profound effect on the world. The potential for new pharmacotherapies working through unique mechanisms of action offer hope for many unmet clinical needs. Over half of the United States have already legalized cannabis in some form and the legal cannabis industry has been growing at a rate faster than any other industry over the past four years, becoming the single greatest job creation engine in America. The Master of Science (M.S.) in Medical Cannabis Science and Busines program is designed to provide students with the knowledge in cannabis medicine, science, business, and policies, required to enter the cannabis industry, support patients, add to existing research and develop innovative cannabis business models. The M.S. degree program encompasses three stackable graduate certificates in the following areas:
- Cannabis Medicine (clinical applications, physiological impacts, therapies, and health effects)
- Cannabis Science (botany, chemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology)
- Cannabis Business (regulations, management, operations, financial analysis and business model innovation)

Curriculum

Students in the M.S. program will have the flexibility to choose which course to take each semester, which certificate to pursue first. The following table represents the course offerings by semester.
Students may enroll into the program in Fall, Spring or Summer and can decide which one of the certificate programs they would like to complete first.

As you complete core courses you will earn the graduate certificates of:
- Cannabis Medicine (CMD 503, CMD 504, CMD 505)
- Cannabis Science (CSC 511, CSC 512, CSC 513)
- Cannabis Business (CBU 501, CBU 506, iMBA 604)
Upon Completion, you will have 3 certificates and a Master’s degree.

Brooke Worster, MD
Associate Professor
Dr. Brooke Worster completed her internal medicine and chief residency at Temple University and her pain and palliative care fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer center.
Faculty

Jack Henion, PhD
Professor Jack Henion is Emeritus Professor of Toxicology at Cornell University where he was a member of the College of Veterinary Medicine commencing in 1976.

Marilyn Huestis, PhD
Dr. Marilyn Huestis was the former Chief of Chemistry and Drug Metabolism at NIDA’s Intramural Research Program (IRP) where she conducted controlled drug administration studies.

Mahmoud ElSohly, PhD, BCFE, BCFM
Mahmoud A. ElSohly is a Research Professor at The National Center for Natural Products Research, and Professor of Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi (UM).

Sara Jane Ward, PhD
Dr. Sara Jane Ward is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Substance Abuse Research, Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University.

Related Programs

Provides an in depth view of the botany and chemistry of the cannabis plant, cannabinoids pharmacology and resultant effects, and how to identify and quantify the different chemical components and potential toxicants in cannabis.

Designed for clinicians to provide an understanding of the science underlying endocannabinoids and their clinical applications.
