Laboratory Chemical Safety Program:  identifies and corrects general laboratory hazards.  This program guides you through the process of identifying hazardous associated with specific laboratory process or an entire laboratory and then helps you assign a numerical risk to the process or laboratory.  The risk assessment results are then used to identify the specific hazards or controls which can be addressed to reduce risks.

The Department of Environmental Health and Safety provides:

  • Consultation and training on chemical hazards.
  • Recommendations on safe storage and handling practices and proper personal protective equipment.
  • Inspection of laboratories.
