JRFC Policy Updates

1. Reservations

  • Reservations are required to enter the JRFC and will be available in 60-minute increments
  • Reservations can be made using the URL created by Microsoft Bookings.
  • Guests and family members that are not affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University or Hospital are NOT permitted to use the JRFC at this time.
  • Members/students must arrive no more than 5 minutes before their reservation slot. If you arrive late to your time slot, it will reduce your time to use the facility.
  • Reservations can be made up to 3 days in advance. Members will not be allowed to walk into the JRFC without a reservation.

2. Check-in Procedures

  • Members/students will check in at the front desk.
  • Members/students will proceed to get a temperature check by one of the JRFC team members. A temperature exceeding 99.6 degrees Fahrenheit will be turned down from using the facility that day.
  • Members/students will be asked to use hand sanitizer prior to accessing the weight and cardio rooms
  • A valid Jefferson student or employee ID is required to enter the JRFC. All others without a Jefferson ID will NOT be allowed access.
  • Family, alumni, retiree and visitor members will not be available at this time.

3. Masks and Attire

  • 2-ply or 3-ply face masks MUST be worn at all times in the facility, even while working out (unless taking a quick drink). Ear loops or behind the head ties are acceptable. The mask MUST cover the nose AND mouth at all times. Gators, bandanas, masks with vent holes, t-shirts will NOT be allowed!!! A strict 3 strike policy will be in place – if a member breaks this rule 3 times, they will no longer have the right to use our facility. Members/students must wear athletic attire to the facility. NO SCRUBS will be permitted inside the JRFC!

4. Physical Distancing

  • Members/students must maintain at least 6-foot distance throughout their visit. They must observe the 6 ft markers placed throughout the facility to ensure that they are adhering to this policy.

5. Group Exercise

  • All group exercise classes will continue to be offered on our virtual schedule. No in person classes will be held at this time.
  • All classes are free of charge to all Jefferson University students, faculty, and staff.
  • Exercise templates will be distributed throughout the facility for students to do either in the gym, outside or at home.

6. Cleaning and Disinfecting

  • Commonly touched surfaces (e.g., doors, pens, flat surfaces) will be cleaned frequently and in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Anyone utilizing the JRFC is required to clean equipment before and after each use (dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, machines, etc.)
  • Additional spray bottles and wipes will be added throughout the JRFC.
  • JRFC staff members will constantly be on the floor cleaning and disinfecting. Concluding each hour reservation, JRFC staff members will do a more thorough cleaning of the facility.

7. Limited Amenities

  • Members/students must bring their own water bottle! Only bottle refill stations will be available for use.
  • Members/students must bring their own towel if they need one. Towel service is NOT available at this time.
  • Locker rooms, showers, racquetball court, basketball court, stretch room, TRX room and pool are currently CLOSED.
  • Restrooms located in the locker rooms are still available! Lockers and showers will be closed
  • Members/studentsmust come ”work-our ready” as the lockers, changing areas and showers will be inaccessible

8. Equipment

  • Every other cardio machine will be roped off to ensure proper distancing.
  • Extra equipment such as resistance bands, exercise mats, medicine balls and weightlifting belts will be unavailable during this time (these things are harder to clean). 
  • NO supersets or exercises that require a spotter

Sunday: Closed

The facility will also have varying operational hours during holiday periods.
