Post-Master's Certificate

This program is available as a part or full-time program, starting during the spring or fall semester. A full-time curriculum sequence is shown below. Though the order and workload may change depending on sequence chosen, all courses shown below reflect the requirements of the Post-masters program, regardless of part or full-time commitment or the semester in which a student begins. The clinical portions of the program are full-time.

All courses are three (3) credit hours, unless otherwise indicated.

Note the program of study is the same as the MS in Midwifery without the following four master's related courses:

  • Introduction to Health Policy
  • Theoretical Foundations for Midwifery
  • Evidence-Based Care: Evaluating Research
  • MS Elective

Year 1

SEMESTER I

  • Advanced Physiology/Pathophysiology for Primary Care
  • Professional Issues
  • Advanced Health Assessment

SEMESTER II

  • Healthcare of Women (4 credits)
  • Advanced Pharmacology I (2.5 credits)

On Campus Intensive: Office skills

SEMESTER III

  • Embryology and Genetics (1 credit)
  • Preparation for Office Based Practice (1 credit)
  • Antepartum Care (4 credits)
  • Postpartum/Newborn Care (2.5 credits)
  • Clinical Well Woman and Maternity Care I (2 credits)

Year 2

SEMESTER IV

  • Intrapartum Care (4 credits)
  • Advanced Pharmacology II (1.5 credits)
  • Clinical Well Woman and Maternity Care II

On Campus Intensive: Birth skills

SEMESTER V

  • Preparation for Full Scope Midwifery Practice (1 credit)
  • Clinical Full Scope Midwifery Care I
