Safety on Campus

The safety and security of our students is our top priority. Please review the University Campus Security Department website to review additional information regarding campus safety.

For additional city safety information please review the Philadelphia Police Department webiste. Philadelphia Police are very visible around campus monitoring for any possible issues.

Within the residence halls, there are several safety and security measures in place which include:

  • Smoke detectors, fire alarms, sprinkler systems and other fire safety equipment
  • Security cameras in critical areas that are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Swipe card access at the main lobby entrances
  • 24-hour front desk coverage, staffed with professional, experienced workers
  • Residential Life staff members who are on-call 24/7 to address any emergencies or issues

Outside of the residence halls, the following features are available just outside of the buildings and around campus:

Emergency call boxes located outside of each of the residences and can be identified by a blue light above the phone. These phones can be found very close to the residence halls at the following locations:

  • 11th & Walnut Streets / SW corner of the Martin Building
  • 10th & Walnut Streets / SW corner of the Barringer Building
  • Lubert Plaza / SW corner of Orlowitz Building

In addition to the call boxes around campus, Security also offers walking escorts around campus if you feel uncomfortable or not safe. Please refer to the University Campus Security Department for more safety tips and information regarding campus security.
