Microsoft Lync 2013

Lync is a new online chat feature available to all Office users. With Lync, you can now instant message your colleagues about Jefferson business, see who’s available to live chat, and display your own online availability.

Using Microsoft Lync 2013 for Windows 7

Note:  Windows XP users can launch Microsoft Lync 2010 by clicking the Windows Start Menu and browsing to the Microsoft Lync program folder.

Launch Lync 2013
  1. Click on the Window Start button and start typing Lync in the search field.
  2. Click Lync 2013 to launch the application.
Signing On
  1. Enter your username in format and click Sign In.
  2. Put in your password if prompted for it.
Finding People and Sending a Message
  1. Click on Find People and start typing in a name
  2. People matching that name will automatically populate the list
  1. Once you’ve found the person you would like to message, right-click the person’s name and choose “Send an IM” or click on the person’s picture icon and select the IM bubble.
  1. Type your message and click the send button. Note: If the message recipient is offline, they will not receive the message.
Receiving a Message
  1. When receiving a message from someone, you will see a notification in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. To accept the message, move the cursor over to the notification and click on it.
