Thomas Jefferson University

Joint Seminar Series

Joint Research Seminar Series hosted by Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Department of Cancer Biology

The combined goals of the seminar series are two-fold:

  1. Bring in outstanding leaders from the basic science and translational research fields in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and cancer biology to provide exposure, networking, and education on a broad range of topics, including "hot areas of research" to our faculty, staff, postdocs, and students.
  2. Provide a training platform for our postdocs and graduate students to develop their oral presentation and communication skills by presenting their research and receiving feedback from faculty and their peers.

Seminars are held every Monday at 12 pm, and are widely attended by faculty and trainees alike from the basic science departments as well as clinical departments. Recent speakers included high profile investigators from outside the institution such as Thomas Tuschl, PhD from Rockefeller University, Judy Lieberman, MD from Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Ashani Weeraratna, PhD from Johns Hopkins, and Beverly Mock, PhD from the Center for Cancer Research at the National Cancer Institute.
