Jefferson Urology
Residency Program Notice

July 1, 2017

The Department of Urology at Thomas Jefferson University has made application and received approval from the Urology Residency Review Committee (RRC) to reduce our residency training program from 6 to 5 years. This change is consistent with over 90% of all other US training programs and will involve 1 year of general surgery followed by 4 years of Urology. We are confident that the quality of the experience of our trainees will be enhanced by this adjustment due to the breadth of clinical and operative experiences that the residents are exposed to.

In order to make this transition, the Department will not interview applicants this fall and will not participate in the 2018 Urology match. The Jefferson Urology Residents who will interview in the fall of 2018 and begin internship in July of 2019 will be the first group on the revised 5 year program. Please contact us if you have additional questions.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause for students who were interested in matching at Jefferson in the 2018 Academic Year. We welcome students who wish to rotate with Jefferson Urology this year.
