Research & Clinical Interest

Dr. Chandrasekar’s clinical interests are broad, encompassing most of urologic oncology – cancers of the kidney, bladder, prostate, testis, penis/scrotum, and adrenals. Yet, from a clinical perspective, his interest lies in maximizing patient outcomes while minimizing adverse events (side effects) and overtreatment; as such, he is a strong believer in conservative management when appropriate. From a research perspective, Dr. Chandrasekar has an interest in improving care in the field of bladder and kidney cancer, both areas ripe for major change. More importantly, he has a strong background in health sciences research, working with large datasets to help address major disparities in healthcare delivery and outcomes. Ultimately, however, patient care comes first – and he understands the importance of treating each patient as an individual!
