Graduate Certificate Programs
Applications to the Graduate Certificate Programs are considered throughout the year, and newly matriculated students may begin coursework in any academic term (Spring, Summer or Fall).
This application is for the following Graduate Certificate programs:
- Clinical Research & Trials: Implementation
- Clinical Trials: Operations
- Human Clinical Investigation: Theory
- Infectious Disease Control
- Patient Centered Research

Jefferson College of Life Sciences (JCLS) application, TJAPP, is managed through a central application service which collects all of the application materials.
The application fee is $50.00 and needs to be submitted by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) upon submission of the application. The fee is non-refundable.
Submit a personal statement/essay describing your reasons for applying to the certificate program of your choice and Thomas Jefferson University, and talk about your professional objectives.
Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities they have attended. This includes any study-abroad programs or transfer credit not reflected on undergraduate transcripts with full course titles and final grades.
If your courses were completed outside of the United States, you must submit a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services.

Letters of Reference, One Letter Required
Letters of reference should be written by people who can comment from personal knowledge on the applicant's academic or professional qualifications, preferably from individual faculty or professional references.
A Resume/CV can be uploaded to the Program Materials section of the application under Documents.
English Language Proficiency
All international students and U.S. permanent residents must demonstrate English language proficiency as one of the conditions for admission to Thomas Jefferson University. If your native language is not English, or you received your baccalaureate degree in a country where English is not the official language (refer to comprehensive list of requirements by country), you must submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores or fulfill one or more of the conditions necessary to waive the English language proficiency requirement. TOEFL or IELTS scores are valid for two years; scores older than two years will not be considered.

Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with an overall score of at least 87 and individual section scores as follows:
IELTS: An overall score of at least 6.0
- Report scores on the centralized application system (TJAPP), but request official scores to be sent to Thomas Jefferson University.

TOEFL/IELTS requirement will be waived if you have:
- Associate degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.
- At least 60 college credits earned from no more than three (3) U.S. colleges or universities.
- Citizenship from a country where English is an official language (PDF).
Note: Under no circumstances can any application materials submitted to the Office of Admissions be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another college, university or third party. All records submitted in support of an application for admission become property of Thomas Jefferson University.
