HR Wins Department of the Year Award

Congratulations to the Department of Human Resources for winning the annual HR Department of the Year Award!  Presented by the Delaware Valley HR Executive Alliance group, more than 450 HR executives gathered in the Crystal Tea Room on November 20, 2014, in anticipation to find out who won in various categories and for overall best department.

“While I am grateful and humbled by this award, what drives my team to do what they do every day is that we are supporting our employees, faculty and leaders to do the incredibly important work that they do for patients, students and families,” said Pam Teufel, EVP & CHRO, in her acceptance speech.

Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA, President & CEO, TJU & Jefferson Health System, shared, “I’m so proud of Pam and her team and the work they have done over the past two years. Jefferson is undergoing enormous change, and they are leading the transformation in all areas of HR to bring about a world class work experience for our employees.”

Scott Rosen, President, Rosen Group, founded the HR Department of Year Awards 17 years ago to recognize HR departments who have demonstrated service excellence to their organizations by implementing leading HR practices. Every year, the Delaware Valley HR Executive Alliance receives in-depth applications in various HR categories such as Wellness, Learning and Development and Benefits, and also for HR Department of the Year which is given in 4 groups based on size of the HR department.

From the committee’s review, organizations are selected for an on-site interview with the HR leadership team and the organization’s CEO. Mark Spool, Ph.D., Management Development Solutions, and panel judge, remarked, “After their on-site, I knew immediately this team was a winner. What they have implemented in less than two years is remarkable and truly impressive.”

Human Resources has transformed their Service Delivery Model by introducing the Business Partner model and HR Service Center; implemented 17 HRIT applications which have resulted in over $700,000 in savings; launched Jefferson Honors (reward & recognition program), Benefits Plus (voluntary benefits program) and LiveWell@Jeff, which won two awards and lead our campus to becoming smoke-free. The Talent Management team also created JOLT, the umbrella for our comprehensive career and leadership development programs with new courses for all staff levels, including the Leadership Academy, Transformative Leadership, New Leader Fundamentals, Emerging Leader and Grow Your Career.

Be sure to congratulate our HR staff - A great way to recognize them is to send a Cheers for Peers through Jefferson Honors!
