On Wednesday, November 7, 2018, 35 faculty and staff members of the Jefferson College of Nursing attended the "Naloxone (Narcan) Overdose & Rescue Training" offered by the City of Philadelphia's Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disabilities. Ramon Cruz, Andrea October, and Pam McClenton delivered the training on campus, which covers: harm-reduction approaches, high-risk behaviors, protocols for administering overdose prevention medication, the Good Samaritan Act 139, and Pennsylvania's Standing Order for Naloxone.

Dr. Marie Ann Marino, Dean of Jefferson College of Nursing, aims to have 100% of JCN faculty and staff trained in this and other critically important areas to strengthen the college's impact on patients, communities, and society .
