About the BSN 3+2 Partnership Program

Through a partnership between Saint Joseph's University (SJU) and Thomas Jefferson University, students begin their studies in one of two academic programs options at SJU that lead to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Jefferson. This program provides options for students to move directly into the Master’s degree after completion of their BSN.

This program will provide two bachelor’s degrees that are completed over the course of five years. The first year of Jefferson coursework will transfer to SJU so students can walk in graduation at SJU at the completion of their first bachelor’s degree. After the second year at Jefferson, students earn the BSN degree from Jefferson.

Overview

Designed for individuals with no prior nursing education and no bachelor’s degree, Jefferson’s fully accredited BSN program provides an educational foundation for professional nursing practice and graduate study in nursing. Emphasizing the relationship between academic and clinical experience, the program promotes continued intellectual inquiry.

Students apply to both SJU (through the Common Application) & Jefferson’s application (TJAPP) during their senior year of high school. The Traditional 3+2 BSN option enrolls students who have completed their first two years of prerequisite coursework at Saint Joseph’s University as a Biology or Interdisciplinary Health Services major.

Jefferson Nursing students learn clinical skills in a risk-free, simulated-patient environment that is one of the nation’s leading centers of its kind. Combined with their clinical practice at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, our BSN students graduate with far more hours of clinical experience than is professionally required.

Jefferson BSN graduates have consistently scored among the highest pass rates on the national licensure examination of all PA professional nursing programs.
