Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University

Master of Science in Nursing
Curriculum

There are 12 courses/36 credits for all Jefferson NP tracks. Eight (8) courses are taken 100% online. The four (4) remaining courses below with an asterisk (*) have some face to face requirements.   All students at minimum must be present for the midterm and final for Physical Assessment along with potentially three visits per semester for the three (3) clinical courses. Course descriptions can be found in the College of Nursing Handbook. Clinical placements are a joint responsibility of both the student and faculty member. Jefferson sees clinical placement as a partnership and wants to work with students to find the best situation.  Students are required to complete at minimum 16 hours a week during the three (3)clinical courses. At the completion of the program students earn 672 clinical hours.  All accepted students are required to attend a one day orientation on campus before the program begins.

Most Jefferson students work full time while enrolling part time in MSN coursework.  Students are only eligible for federal aid when enrolling in two (2) classes per term. Below is the average length of time for program completion:

24 Month - Two (2) classes per term

36 Month - Combination of one (1) or two (2) classes per term

48 Month - One (1) class per term

Students can take more than two (2) classes per term.  All students will create an individual plan of study at new student orientation before the term begins.

Transfer Credits:  A maximum of six (6) MSN semester credits may be transferred from another regionally accredited institution.  Only once an applicant has been admitted to Jefferson will previous credits will be evaluated by the Chair of Graduate Nursing programs.
