Jefferson College of Pharmacy Student Recognized for Medication Safety Intervention

JCP Student Pharmacist, Andrew Shaffer, recently received a “Good Catch” award by the Medication Safety Committee of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for recognizing and preventing a potentially very serious medication error. The “Good Catch” program recognizes staff members who exemplify CHOP’s safety behaviors. Andrew is in the third-year of the JCP Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program and works as a Pharmacy Intern in the CHOP Pharmacy Department. The award ceremony was conducted by CHOP President, Madeline Bell. CHOP Senior Patient Safety Manager, Kristin Neiswender, commented “it’s great to see students questioning and paying attention to detail like this. Keep up the good work in your program… students like Andrew will be a benefit wherever they practice.”
