Jordan Wesolowski, PhD
Jordan received his B.A. in Biology from the University of Delaware in 2008 and his PhD in Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis in 2015 from Thomas Jefferson University. During his graduate work Jordan investigated the molecular mechanism by which E. coli inhibits SNARE-mediated membrane fusion in Mast cells, which are important mediators of the allergic reaction. As a post-doctoral fellow, Jordan now focuses on elucidating the molecular mechanisms by which Chlamydia effector proteins manipulate the actin and microtubule cytoskeleton during infection.
Tiago received his B.S in from in and is currently a MD/PhD student in collaboration with the university of Minho (Portugal). Using a CRISPR/Cas9 knockout approach, Tiago investigates the contribution of host SNARE proteins to the pathogenicity of Chlamydia trachomatis. In particular, Tiago seeks to identify host SNARE proteins that are hijacked by Chlamydia and their role in essential membrane fusion events, such as the acquisition of lipids and homotypic fusion, during Chlamydia infection.
MS Research Assistant
Anna received her B.S. and M.S in Biotechnology from Thomas Jefferson University in 2018. Anna’s project involves investigating the process of homotypic fusion of Chlamydial inclusions during infection. Her work focuses on identifying the molecular mechanism by which the inclusion protein IncA drives homotypic fusion. Anna is also interested in the evolutionary changes of IncA that happened between different Chlamydia species.
