Description: The Jefferson Internal Medicine Society (JIMS) serves to promote and foster a true interest in the specialty and subspecialties of Internal Medicine. The society focuses on the many facets of Internal Medicine in primary care as well as in specialty practice. Activities and events include regular meetings and seminars where interested persons are encouraged to consider Internal Medicine as a career choice, collaborative panels on primary care, and volunteer opportunities. The society frequently sponsors keynote speakers who discuss their work with students to help them gain a better understanding of medical subspecialties in Internal Medicine. We have also created a mentorship database for students interested in shadowing or conducting research with faculty. Finally, we work closely with our local chapter of the American College of Physician (ACP) to provide additional educational opportunities and networking. JIMS has been in existence for 20 years and there are no dues or fees.
