ENGR101 Intro to Engineering students visited AeroAggregates of North America, LLC. Located in Eddystone, PA, AeroAggregates is a regional manufacturer that turns post-consumer waste glass into lightweight aggregates for infrastructure and building/construction projects. Thank you to Chief Technical Officer Dr. Theresa Loux, pictured. Dr. Loux provided an overview of the material properties and projects, then led a tour of the facility to observe the manufacturing of ultra-lightweight foamed glass aggregates (UL-FGA®). Students, mostly first-years in the BSE in Engineering and BSE in Mechanical Engineering programs, enjoyed seeing firsthand the production and quality-control processes for materials they work with in classroom labs.
