On July 31, 2012, Stephen Hurst, a third year graduate student was awarded a position on the pre-doctoral training grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). Stephen's project is identifying the GSK-3 isoform- specific control of the mPTP during ischemia reperfusion injury and alcohol's impact on this regulatory process. His advisor is Shey-Shing Sheu, Ph.D., Interim Director of the Center for Translational Medicine.
