Beyond gaining foundational nutrition knowledge, the Nutrition & Dietetic Practice/RDN Program (MS/RDN) program emphasizes key aspects of dietetic practice: communication, interprofessional practice, sustainability, leadership, management, and research.

Learn to look beyond the disease and see the whole patient. Examine the disparities in our healthcare system and consider how RDNs can help combat these inequities. Graduate ready to practice with integrity, compassion and a commitment to equitable care and social justice advocacy.

Program Highlights

  • Individualized education. Work closely with a faculty advisor to plan learning experiences. Design a personalized rotation schedule according to your strengths, interests and career goals.
  • Connection in an inclusive environment. Our learning environment is shaped by affirmation, transparency and support. Build lifelong friendships as part of a diverse and close-knit cohort.
  • Social justice focus. Engage in social justice advocacy and sustainability initiatives, weave health equity and food access into your nutrition knowledge, and learn to look beyond disease to see the whole person.
  • Jefferson and its location in Philadelphia. Participate in hands-on learning at innovative and extraordinary healthcare facilities: Jefferson Health is improving lives through exceptional care in the greater Philadelphia area and South Jersey. With 9 nationally ranked specialties, Jefferson continues to top U.S. News & World Report’s list of best hospitals in the area. Jefferson students complete supervised experiential learning at these renowned sites, among other exceptional local organizations.

My decision to attend Jefferson was based on the program's values of social justice advocacy and sustainability and their demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in nutrition and dietetics. Moreover, I was impressed by their accreditation as a model for future nutrition education programs at the graduate level.
