When you come to Thomas Jefferson University, you join a highly ranked Fashion Design program that is globally recognized for training team-oriented designers who understand the interrelationship of design, production and commerce while creatively answering the ever-changing needs of the fashion marketplace. You will be transformed into a fashion design professional through hands-on experience, cross disciplinary collaborations, and use of the latest fashion design technology on the market. With our expansive studio spaces and access to our highly experienced and committed faculty, your journey of becoming a Fashion Designer begins here.

Our Programs

BS in Fashion Design 

Create custom prints, textiles, accessories, jewelry, and hardware to give your creations unique perspective. Collaborative design opportunities unique to Jefferson allow students from cross-disciplines to work together to fulfill a creative vision. Work with textile, industrial, or graphic design students, just to name a few, to create garments customized to your inspiration.

Study abroad opportunities in major fashion centers, including Rome and Paris. Sophomore students can experience the New York fashion industry through the New York Immersion course. Intern with companies including Virgil Abloh’s Off-White, Christian Siriano, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, COACH, Vogue, Levi’s, Under Armour, URBN, and many more.

MS in Fashion Design Technology

Gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art tools, including 3D body scanning and sophisticated software that enables precision in design and customization. Students will explore the fascinating world of AI for fashion, discovering how machine learning can enhance creativity, optimize production, and create personalized consumer experiences.

Learn the importance of sustainable practices, focusing on biomaterials for fashion and equipping students with knowledge of environmentally friendly materials and original design techniques. Learn how to create a strong brand identity, engage target audiences, and leverage insights from social media metrics to inform design decisions and marketing campaigns.

The 2025 Thomas Jefferson University Annual Student Design Fashion Show was an unforgettable night featuring original collections by graduating fashion design students — showcasing four years of hard work, creativity, and innovation. Hosted by Jefferson alumna and fashion industry leader Alicia Pinckney ('13), the event celebrates resilience, craftsmanship, and the next generation of design talent.
