One of our biggest strengths is having three unique but related programs within the same department. Our students participate in core curriculum courses spanning these disciplines with full-time faculty who are dedicated to teaching. Students learn and practice specialized hands-on training in recently renovated laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment at every stage of their program.

We prepare laboratory professionals for careers in three unique programs: Biotechnology, Cytotechnology and Cell Sciences, and Medical Laboratory Science.

Biotechnology: Prepare for a career developing innovative technologies used in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries—such as vaccine development, cell and gene therapy, molecular diagnostics and bioprocessing (manufacturing of biological therapies targeting cancer and other diseases).
Cytotechnology and Cell Sciences: Get ready for a future in diagnostic cytology where you can practice in a variety of laboratory settings. Develop knowledge and skill sets pertaining to cytology specimen screening and diagnostic interpretation, basic laboratory techniques, laboratory operations and management, application of companion technologies such as molecular testing, and demonstration of evidence-based medicine and professionalism.
Medical Laboratory Science: Gain the knowledge and skills to provide clinicians with the laboratory results used to diagnose, treat and manage patients suffering from various conditions, such as leukemia, diabetes, infection and more. Additional training in laboratory management, flow cytometry and molecular diagnostics will give you an edge after graduation. Experienced laboratory professionals may advance their career by completing the MLT to MLS (Medical Laboratory Tech to Medical Laboratory Sciences BS degree) pathway.

Highlights

Real world experience is a hallmark to our program. We provide four practicum/internship experiences at one of our 40+ clinical, academic and industry affiliates.
We offer both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
We offer an online MLT to MLS — Medical Laboratory Technician to Medical Laboratory Scientist BS program pathway — and online and in-person graduate certificates.
We collaborate with faculty from Jefferson's Sidney Kimmel Medical College to provide our students with a unique clinical perspective.
